This position is time-limited through September 30, 2026. Continuation of position is contingent upon grant funds. This position may have occasional travel between campuses and for training. Occasional after hours may be required.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Provides students with initial and ongoing academic advising by assisting with course planning, facilitating student admission and registration, advising students of available support programs and services, and maintaining records of advising contacts.Engages in proactive outreach to a caseload of students, provides ongoing coaching, and connects students to needed resources and services.Assists students in navigating admissions policies and procedures; answers specific inquiries, maintains contact with prospective students, and ensures completion of application materials of students in the admissions process.Assesses prospective student admission data such as test scores and placement information, reviews transcripts from high school, postsecondary institutions and other relative documentation.Provides information regarding course offerings to applicants which requires familiarity with all curriculum and continuing education programs offered by the college. Support and coach students who are facing academic challenges such as academic probation and suspension.Provides career advising to assist students in aligning their academic goals with career communities, transfer opportunities, and long-term professional aspirations.Utilizes student information systems and advising technology (SLATE, Self-Service, Colleague) to track student progress, registration, and advising contacts, ensuring accurate and timely record-keeping.Collaborates with faculty and other campus departments to provide holistic support for student success, ensuring students are connected to the full range of college resources.Advises and evaluates pre-health science students by assisting with course planning, ensuring prerequisite completion, and guiding students through the application process for limited enrollment programs. Provides tailored support to help students navigate program requirements, admissions criteria, and competitive selection processes.Attend onboarding, recruitments, and community engagement events as needed.Serves on college-wide committees as requested.Work virtually and during evening hours as needed.Responds in a timely and professional manner to student inquiries.Complete the annual five-hour staff development requirement. Follow and support College activities, policies, and procedures. Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, preferably in counseling, education or a closely related field; 2 years in student services and/or academic advising in a higher education setting; Bilingual (Spanish and English)
