Campus Ministry is the driving force of faith and spirituality for the Central Catholic Community.

Our programs enliven and animate the Catholic Marianist identity of our school for our

students, faculty, staff, parents, and families. The Campus Ministry program seeks to nurture

and develop the spiritual lives of our students – supporting and enriching them to live lives

filled with faith, hope, and love in service to others. Through monthly Masses, daily prayer,

retreats, and other formational activities, we invite and encourage every student to seek God’s

presence in all things and live authentic Christian lives. Our community reflects Jesus’ care

and concern for all people and we live in solidarity with our Marianist founder, the Blessed

William Joseph Chaminade.


Central Catholic is seeking an enthusiastic, organized, and self-motivated person to help

implement programs designed to integrate faith, culture, and life – encouraging students to think

critically and ethically about the world around them – to promote our Marianist faith and

Catholic teachings. The ultimate goal is the formation of young men of prayer, young men of

academia, young men of community, and young men of service.

The ideal candidate would be able to manage multiple initiatives at once in a fast-paced

environment while coordinating with multiple stakeholders, both internal and external. The

Director of Campus Ministry position involves working collaboratively with, supervising, and

managing a team of individuals.


JOB PURPOSE:

To cultivate a vibrant faith community of discipleship and brotherhood, fostering

transformative encounters with God through our campus ministry.

The Director of Campus Ministry has a particular focus on initiating opportunities for spiritual

growth; engages in evangelization and outreach; creates opportunities for Catholic catechesis,

faith formation, faith-based justice education, and religious literacy; builds faith communities;

and fosters student leadership in ministry.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Practicing Catholic with a degree in theology, ministry, or a related field and/or demonstrated training expertise in ministry.
  • Familiarity with and/or a member of the Marianist Family
  • Successful experience with project management
  • Three years of full-time ministry experience or equivalent
  • Supervisory experience
  • Evidence of theological training/formation suitable for ministry (without a Masters)


PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will

bring many of the following:

  • Master’s Degree (Theology, Pastoral Ministry, Religious Studies, Divinity, or related field)
  • Five years experience in Campus Ministry/youth/young adult ministry
  • Direct high school experience with an all-male environment (preferred)
  • Participation in and/or organizing Kairos retreats or similar
  • Outreach and evangelization among students
  • Evidence of developing and implementing creative faith development programs for faculty, staff, and students
  • Evidence of recruiting, training, and supervising assistant retreat leaders


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic Education and the mission of the school.
  • Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Uphold the Code of Ethics for Educators and practice the characteristics of a Marianist Education.
  • Support and adhere to the policies and procedures of the school and Archdiocese of San Antonio, including the Religious Standards for Catholic School Employees.
  • Coordinate school and family Masses
  • Design and oversee a four-year student retreat program
  • Design and oversee opportunities for students, faculty, and staff to interweave religion and spiritual practices, especially prayer, into the life of the school
  • In collaboration with the President and the Principal, support adult formation at the school including assisting in the design and execution of retreats, liturgies, and other ministry initiatives that serve to help the faculty and staff deepen their spiritual and religious lives
  • Design and oversee meaningful community service events that allow all students to deepen their experience of service to others, and better understand the connection between their service and faith
  • Identify and nurture opportunities to increase student engagement in the school through leadership in campus ministry and community service
  • Provide training and support for the Campus Ministry Leadership Team and the Campus Ministers
  • Conduct an annual evaluation of all Campus Ministry Programs
  • Engage in ongoing professional development activities in the area of high school Campus Ministry
  • Supervise all Campus Minister volunteers
  • Provide pastoral counseling for the school community
  • Collaborate with and support the Religion Department, the cross-curriculum needs of all other departments
  • Serve as a member of the Principal’s Administrative Team (Principal’s Council)
  • Work collaboratively with the Chaplain, Associate Campus Minister, Liturgical Coordinator, Faculty and Staff, Administration, Parents, and Alumni
  • Together with the Chaplain, recruit, train, and supervise student-led daily morning prayer 3 O’clock Prayer, and Eucharistic Ministers of Holy Communion
  • Plan and administer finances in adherence to the Budget
  • Create and maintain a Google calendar for all Campus Ministry meeting times, events, scheduling appointments, etc.
  • Invite and build LIFE team from incoming Junior & Senior classes
  • Implement any other duties as deemed necessary by the Principal or Administration


EXPERIENCE, REQUIREMENTS, AND SKILLS:

  • Articulating Catholic theological perspectives with breadth and depth and bringing them to life among high school students
  • Pastoral care and crisis response, including bereavement
  • Taking initiative with the ability to organize and manage multiple projects
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the community
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Organized, extremely detail-focused, and driven to consistently meet project deadlines
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Understands resource limitations and can communicate challenges
  • Self-motivated and able to multitask effectively
  • Able to work overtime and weekends, and able to travel as needed
  • Excellent communication skills in verbal and written
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Work Calendar: 12 month

Salary: $40,000 - $55,000
