Description
Central Co-op’s Deli department is a showcase for our robust in-house prepared foods program, as well as featuring ready-to-eat items from a diverse group of small, local vendors! The primary responsibility of the Deli Cook is preparing and scratch-cooking various dishes, entrees, soups, and sandwiches for the deli service and self-service cases. This position will also occasionally order deli products, verify, catalog, and code invoices, as well as maintain, stock, rotate, and face the walk-in cooler and deli foods.
This posting is for a part-time position with a maximum of 20 hours per week.
Food Preparation
- Prepares deli recipes according to procedure.
- Cleans and stocks deli cases according to procedure, utilizing proper signage.
- Packages and labels product according to company procedure and food safety protocol.
- Maintains a clean workspace in accordance with food safety protocols.
- Maintains working knowledge of Deli recipes and prepared foods.
- Trains other staff as needed.
- Receives product deliveries, ensuring order and invoice accuracy.
- Stock, rotate, and face items in back stock and display areas per procedure and as directed.
- Maintains back-stock areas according to department standards.
- Catalogs and codes invoices according to procedure.
- Assists in other departments as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned to meet business needs.
Qualifications
Desired Qualifications
- At least 6 months of production cooking experience, or equivalent education and training.
- Ability to read, understand and apply various documents such as recipes, department manuals, standard operating procedures, employee handbook, etc.
- Ability to accurately, efficiently, and safely prepare ingredients for recipes. This includes proper knife handling with the ability to cut produce and other foods appropriately, while using various cooking methods (grilling, baking, roasting, sautéing, etc.)
- Proven ability to effectively listen and communicate with customers and co-workers.
- Ability to prioritize work tasks and maintain focus in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Valid WA State Food Worker Card.
Physical Demands
- Required frequently: Walking, standing, lifting and grasping, including above the shoulders, kneeling, squatting, bending, reaching, repetitive wrist movement, and fine hand manipulation.
- Will be required to wash hands, wear disposable gloves, work with knives, and use various cleaning products, including bleach.
- Will be required to handle meat, seafood, dairy, and other animal products.
Salary : $16 - $18
