Central Coast Community Energy (3CE) is seeking a skilled and motivated Power Supply Analyst to join our team of professionals committed to delivering carbon-free energy to over 1.2 million customers across California’s Central Coast.
ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Power Supply Analyst works under the general direction of the Director of Power Supply Resources and has responsibility for portfolio modeling and analysis of 3CE's power supply position for the monitoring and management of exposure to adverse market changes. The Power Supply Analyst is responsible for assisting the Power Supply team with preparing and filing regulatory compliance reports, acquiring power suppliers, risk mitigation, deal structuring, contract negotiations, and project development to support the goals of supplying carbon free power. The Power Supply Analyst assists with power supply planning, load forecasting, market monitoring, and settlements. This position will also assist in procurement activities for renewable energy and resource adequacy.

3CE is a Community Choice Aggregation agency established by local communities to source clean and renewable electricity at responsible rates for more than 1.2 million residential, commercial, and agricultural customers throughout Monterey, San Benito, Santa Cruz, San Luis Obispo, and Santa Barbara counties. 3CE is locally controlled and governed by board members who represent the communities served by the agency.
3CE is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions through local control of utility-scale renewable electricity generation, investment in new renewable power projects, and the implementation of innovative energy programs that facilitate the electrification of transportation and the built environment. 3CE promotes long-term electric rate stability and energy security while reducing reliance on fossil fuels and stimulating the local economy.
- Work with consultants, vendors, scheduling coordinators, and senior management to analyze risk and value around complex transactions and portfolio positions, including power generation, load forecasts and load scheduling, hedging strategies.
- Identify opportunities for portfolio optimization, budget savings, congestion cost avoidance and project development.
- Develop, manage, and maintain relationships with power suppliers.
Support in the preparation of solicitations/requests for offers of energy and capacity products, supplier/developer communications, analytical support during proposal/bid evaluation and contract negotiations. - Assist with the management of resource adequacy requirements and congestion revenue rights to identify financially advantageous strategies to lower overall power supply costs.
- Monitor energy market activities, including pricing trends and forward curves related to market energy, renewable energy and capacity.
- Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.
Education and Experience:
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in business, economics, engineering, or a closely related field.
Experience: Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience as an analyst at an electric utility, regulatory agency, cleantech company, or similar organization.Knowledge of:
- Knowledge of Community Choice Aggregations.
- Knowledge of energy generation technologies including carbon free electric energy and renewable energy.
- California regulatory bodies and agencies (i.e., CPUC, CEC, CARB, BAAQMD and CAISO) policies and requirements applicable to load serving entities.
- Procurement processes and use of renewable energy certificates to support mandatory and voluntary compliance programs.
- CAISO scheduling and settlements processes.
- Energy storage technologies.
- Structure and content of standard power purchase agreements for various resource types.
- Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
Ability to:
- Communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
- Interact effectively with customers, municipal members, local community groups and organizations, and 3CE staff and Board of Directors and committees.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with persons encountered in the performance of duties.
- Manage multiple projects to fruition within time and budget parameters.
- Manage multiple priorities and quickly adapt to changing priorities in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
- Take responsibility and work independently, as well as coordinate team efforts.

Additional Requirements: This position may involve working nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Additionally, occasional overnight travel may be required.

HYBRYID WORK SCHEDULE AS DESIGNATED BY CEO: Current remote workdays are scheduled on Monday's and Thursday's OR Employee may elect to work a 9/80 work schedule with alternating Friday's or Monday's off.
BENEFITS: 3CE offers a competitive benefits structure to its full-time employees.
RETIREMENT- Employees contribute 10% of their salary on a pre-tax basis towards the PARS retirement system. Employer contributes 10% towards PARS.
HEALTH INSURANCE- 3CE pays 90% employer paid coverage for employee plus family coverage. 100% employer paid for single coverage towards medical, dental, and vision. 3CE contributes up to $2400 annually towards flexible spending benefits and $3600.00 towards HRA.
HEALTH & WELLNESS- 3CE contributes $1,000 per fiscal year for health, wellness and EV reimbursement.
DEFERRED COMPENSATION- 3CE offers 457 deferred compensations.
PTO- Accrued by tenure. 160 hours cap.
CELL PHONE ALLOWANCE- This position is eligible for a cell phone allowance of $50.00 monthly.
