What are the responsibilities and job description for the Aquatic & Sports Program Coordinator position at Central Coast YMCA?
SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Executive Director, coordinates and supervises the day-to-day operation of the aquatic and sports programs. Maintains records, schedules staff, and ensures proper pool maintenance and sports programs. Provides swimming instruction, lifeguarding, and coaching as necessary.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
FISCAL MANAGEMENT
Assist in the development and adherence to budgets for all designated program areas.
Maintains inventory of and orders for the aquatics and sports department.
HUMAN RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT
Manages the Human Resources Cycle (Selection, Recruitment, Orientation, Training, Supervision, and Recognition) for the Aquatics & Sports Department staff.
Conducts regular staff meetings and 1-to-1 supervisory meetings with all staff supervised, setting and monitoring accomplishment of staff performance standards.
Provides ongoing in-service training and safety checks with the aquatic & sports staff to ensure the safest environment possible.
Updates aquatics & sports staff phone roster and distributes to staff and front desk when needed.
Schedules and supervises staff to ensure that all lessons, lifeguards, and sports shifts are properly and appropriately covered.
Maintains all records as required, such as attendance records and progress reports.
FACILITY MANAGEMENT
Supervises aquatics and sports facility maintenance: pool chemistry/temperature, cleanliness of dock space, overall appearance, notifies the Executive Director of any major mechanical problems, and ensures the keeping of all daily statistics and records.
Ensures safety to prevent injuries and works to eliminate hazardous situations.
PUBLIC AND COMMUNITY RELATIONS
Assists with program promotion.
Coordinate all program information and registration procedures with the program desk.
Develops and updates all aquatic and sports program information on a seasonal basis (summer, fall, winter, spring).
PLANNING
Coordinates lesson plans for swim lessons with aquatics staff.
Reviews all current programs and makes recommendations for improvements to the aquatic director.
Works closely with Aquatic and Sports Staff to develop, promote, and conduct events and activities to involve the families of program participants.
ADMINISTRATION
Provides day-to-day coordination of aquatic and sports programs.
Maintains all rescue and medical supplies needed to comply with state, local,l and federal laws and ordinances.
Ensures that the curriculum is delivered to participants positively and specifically.
GENERAL
Actively teaches aquatic classes and/or lifeguards, and sports as necessary.
Maintains a positive and professional image.
Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
Maintains effective communication with members and staff.
Report any concerns to the Executive Director as soon as possible.
Attend all required training and staff meetings.
Arrives on time for scheduled work shifts and performs work duties the entire shift.
Reports all accidents to their supervisor, without exception.
Acts safely and acceptably follows established safety procedures, uses appropriate safeguards, and observes common sense rules of safety in all on-the-job activities. Ensure coworkers and participants do the same.
Conducts self in a manner that reflects credit to the Central Coast YMCA and encourages others to do the same.
Helps to set up and clean up projects, activities, meals, and any other housekeeping duties as assigned.
Perform any other duties as assigned.

Salary : $22 - $25
