Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Ropes Course Instructor to lead and facilitate exciting high- and low-ropes activities for campers in a seasonal day camp setting. As part of our camp team, you will play a vital role in delivering impactful experiences while promoting a positive atmosphere that reflects the Y's values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
• Facilitate ropes course activities, ensuring safety and fun for all participants.
• Conduct equipment checks, monitor participants, and adhere to safety guidelines.
• Prepare and deliver lesson plans tailored to meet the needs of campers.
• Build nurturing relationships with campers and foster a sense of teamwork and growth.
• Model the Y's core values and maintain a positive, supportive environment.
Requirements
• Certification in ropes course facilitation or equivalent experience preferred.
• At least 1 year of experience in ropes course instruction or facilitation.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Positive attitude, adaptability, and a passion for working with youth.
• Current certifications in First Aid, CPR/AED, and O2 administration (or willingness to obtain before the start of camp).
• Physical ability to climb, balance, and work safely at heights.
• Must participate in outdoor activities for up to 8 hours per day.
• Frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
• Work in a moderate to high noise environment.
• Comfortable working at heights as part of ropes course facilitation.
