Description
The Mid-Day Lifeguard at the Woodruff Y is responsible for ensuring the safety of all individuals in and around the pool during daytime hours. This role involves active supervision, enforcing safety rules, and responding to emergencies in accordance with YMCA and American Red Cross guidelines. The lifeguard will maintain a welcoming, supportive environment while promoting a culture of safety and engagement for members.
Requirements
- Minimum age of 16 years .
- Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications (or ability to obtain before employment).
- Lifeguard certification from the American Red Cross, YMCA, or equivalent .
- Emergency Oxygen Administration Certification (must obtain within the first 90 days).
- Strong swimming skills and ability to perform rescues and emergency procedures.
- Ability to remain alert and attentive for extended periods .
- Strong communication skills and the ability to enforce pool rules in a professional manner.
- Ability to work weekday mid-day shifts (10 AM - 3 PM) and adjust as needed.
- Must successfully complete a swimming and physical skills test upon hire and annually.
