We are seeking a skilled Ropes Course Specialist to join our team at the Central Connecticut Coast YMCA. This dynamic role involves leading and facilitating high- and low-ropes activities for campers in a seasonal day camp setting, promoting teamwork, personal growth, and self-confidence.Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate ropes course activities with a focus on safety and fun.
- Conduct equipment checks, monitor participants, and adhere to established safety guidelines.
- Create and deliver engaging lesson plans tailored to meet the needs of our campers.
- Build meaningful relationships with campers and foster a sense of teamwork and growth.
- Model the Y's core values and maintain a positive, supportive environment.
- Certification in ropes course facilitation or equivalent experience is preferred.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in ropes course instruction or facilitation is required.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential.
- A positive attitude, adaptability, and passion for working with youth are necessary.
- Current certifications in First Aid, CPR/AED, and O2 administration (or willingness to obtain before the start of camp).
- The ability to climb, balance, and work safely at heights is required.
- Must be able to participate in outdoor activities for up to 8 hours per day.
- Frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working in a moderate to high noise environment.
- Capable of working at heights as part of ropes course facilitation.
