What are the responsibilities and job description for the Gymnastics Instructor position at CENTRAL CONNECTICUT COAST YOUNG MENS CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION INC?
Under the guidance of the Youth and Sports Director, the Gymnastics Instructor shall administer the policies, programs, and facilities related to gymnastics development for members of the Lakewood Trumbull YMCA. These programs shall include but not be limited to both recreational and competitive gymnastics for our afterschool, weekend and night programs. The incumbent will demonstrate and develop a commitment to the key areas of focus; youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, and our core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Demonstrating and developing these key areas will result in the realization of positive program relations and support.
Essential Functions

- Model and teach the YMCA values and philosophies with participants, colleagues, parents, visitors and any other constituents.
- Connect quickly with participants. Develop and maintain personal relationships that inspire trust and confidence. Assist each participant with meeting personal goals and those established by the program.
- Work with outside organizations and members to recognize and address the needs of the communities through responsive programs.
- Under the direction of the supervisor, plan, organize and lead group activities.
- Ensure that curriculum is followed but also allow for spontaneity, creativity and flexibility.
- Execute day-to-day responsibilities to create a safe, secure and enjoyable environment.
- Ensure that all programs operate in a safe manner and operate according to all applicable licensing standards, grant stipulations, YMCA policies, state and local laws, and YMCA of the USA risk management recommendations and USA Gymnastics.
- Participate in activities, workshops, conferences, etc. that will enhance personal and professional growth.
- Promote the Annual Campaign among staff, members and the community.
- Assist in the preparation for and implementation of branch special events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
