Position Profile
The Drop-In Child Care Center Program Coordinator will be assisting the administrator with operations of the Center. The successful incumbent will assist in establishing and sustaining a warm and welcoming atmosphere that works in partnership with families and the community to provide high-quality learning experiences and childcare that supports individual growth and development of each child.
- Other responsibilities include but are not limited to; assisting in the administration and supervision of the CCSU Drop-In Center pre-school program, enrichment, and childcare programs for children 3-12-years-old, and summer enrichment programs for children 3-7-years-old;
- works collaboratively with the head teacher to develop curriculum and learning activities that adhere to state and national standards to providing high-quality, developmentally appropriate, pre-school instructions;
assisting the supervisor with the review of employment applications, candidate interviews, and hiring of student assistants and assists with the day-to-day management of the Drop-in Child Care Center by supervising, coaching, supporting, and evaluating student assistants, teaching assistants, and other staff.
This position may supervise professional and / or support staff. May lead the work of teachers, student teachers, and student assistants.
Applicant Evaluative Criteria
Applicant profiles and supplementary materials will be evaluated for appointment based on the following :
Education :
All applicants must possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in elementary education or related field.
Experience and Training :
- Three (3) years’ experience teaching, with a record of successfully impacting student achievement and working successfully with students who have the greatest needs.
- Connecticut State Board of Education : Elementary Education (PK-5) teaching certificate / endorsement(s).
Ideal Candidate
Preference will be given to applicants with the following :
- Master’s degree from an accredited university or college in elementary education or related field.
- Endorsement as a Reading and Language Arts Consultant (097) or Reading Specialist / Remedial Reading and Remedial Language Arts, 1-12 (102).
- CPR, First Aid, and Epi-Pen certification.
Credentials and / or experience substantially comparable to the above may also be considered.

Compensation and Employee Benefits
The Early Childhood Drop-In Center Program Coordinator is compensated at the Administrator III salary level in accordance with the State University Organization of Administrative Faculty (SUOAF) Collective Bargaining Union Agreement.
