POSITION DESCRIPTION
Family Services Director

Purpose: The Family Servies Director provides the oversight, development, and implementation of assigned programs in the Family Services Division and overall support to the Family Services Senior Director. Incumbent will supervise, provide oversight, establish training plans and coach staff. Incumbent is responsible for review and completion of assigned reports and assisting in the administration and efficiency of services. The Administrator will work directly with the Senior Director to provide oversight for all budgets, including compliance reporting and related activities. Incumbent will assist in grant writing efforts with the Grant and Resource Development Department.
Essential Functions. An individual in this role must be able to perform the following functions with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Responsible to provide quality assurance for program and financial compliance
- Conduct needs assessments to identify gaps in program services.
- Analyze and interpret program data
- Research opportunities to maximize funding sources to build infrastructure
- Monitor department spending to ensure expenditures align with program goals, objectives, and federal guidelines
- Compile statistical and narrative reports to meet deadlines and as requested
- Assist in preparing grant proposals as requested
- Maintain adherence to Federal and State requirements as required
- Strong background in program development required.
- Design, develop, and implement comprehensive training tailored to the needs of the programs .
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training and make necessary adjustments to enhance learning outcomes.
- Develop training materials, manuals, and guides in accordance with industry standards and program requirements.
- Maintain working knowledge of learning theories, principles, and guidelines related to the programs.
- Assist in developing and updating program policies and procedures
- Plan and coordinate training workshops for staff, tribal councils, other internal and external agencies
- Provide supervision of up to 12 full time employees including but not limited to: hiring, monitoring, coaching, staff development, evaluations, dispute resolution, progressive discipline, and if necessary, termination
- Represent the Division at meetings with internal, local, state, federal and private agencies, community partners
- Responsible for interdepartmental and interagency coordination (i.e. state social services agencies, school district personnel, and other tribal organizations) to ensure tribal families receive necessary services

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities. A comprehensive set of capabilities required to perform job tasks effectively:
- In-depth knowledge of the implementing and operating tribal programs
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent computer skills and Microsoft Suite proficient
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex information from multiple sources
- Ability to manage priorities in a changing environment with limited information
- Ability to defuse emotionally charge situations in a respectful manner
- Ability to maintain accurate, complete, and confidential records
- Familiarity with Tlingit, Haida, and Tsimshian cultures
Minimum Qualifications (education, experience, skills):
- Bachelors degree in social work, education, or related field
- Four (4) years management level experience
- Four (4) years supervisory experience
- Three (3) years experience in developing and managing programs
- Three (3) years financial administration, knowledge, and experience
- Must be 21 years of age with a Valid Drivers License
Preferred Qualifications (education, experience, skills):
- Masters Degree in Social Work or equivalent
