What are the responsibilities and job description for the Camp Photographer - YMCA Camp Hi-Rock position at CENTRAL CT COAST YMCA, INC.?
The Camp Photographer will work to update the camp photo sharing website a minimum of once per day. This program is in place to ensure all parents are able to glimpse “a day in the life” of their camper(s) while at Hi-Rock. The right candidate will be diligent in their efforts to keep the photo website up to date through photographing camp activities or soliciting the help of other camp staff to photograph camp activities and posting photos online or soliciting the help of other camp staff to post photos online.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Coordinate with the Program Directors to document campers, program and community throughout each session, including meals, daily activities and evening programs.
- Take cabin photos during each week of camp.
- Ability to identify publishable photographs of campers and camp staff.
- Participate in the planning and implementation of special events and scheduling photo sessions.
- Supervise campers in a manner that promotes an enjoyable and beneficial experience.
- Comfortable approaching and interacting with groups of children and adults.
- Ability to step in and assume other camp duties as needed.
- Post photos daily to the camp Bunk1 account for parents to view and purchase.
- Act as an extra set of eyes around camp. Provide feedback to camp directors to ensure high quality and safe programming throughout camp.
- Ensure staff are enforcing and following all rules and are fulfilling all assigned duties in the arts program.
- Correct and document, as necessary, situations that endanger the emotional or physical safety of any person.
- Order equipment and supplies as needed.
- Complete or submit requests for repairs for any equipment and keep an inventory of all supplies.
- Demonstrate and teach the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility to all campers and staff.
- Follow all camp rules and regulations and enforce them among peers.
- Maintain positive public relations with parents, visitors, and the general public at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma required; one year of college preferred.
- Must be over 18 years of age, with one to two years of relevant experience with photography. Previous camp experience preferred.
- Experience using a camera, editing programs and working independently.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Publisher and Photoshop.
- Experience with online photo sharing software (Bunk1 preferred)
- Excellent communications skills.
- Desire and ability to work with and relate to children and one’s peers outdoors
- Good role model, high integrity, and adaptable
- Current First Aid and Adult and Child CPR certifications
- Ability to communicate, supervise, and work with assigned ages and skill levels and provide necessary instructions.
- Abilities to observe camper and staff behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques.
- Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to assigned activities.
