Be a part of an exciting and rewarding summer as a Junior Camp Counselor with the Y! In this seasonal role, you will supervise and support a group of children in a day camp setting, fostering a safe, positive, and inclusive atmosphere. You’ll work closely with Senior Counselors and camp leadership to create a fun and engaging experience while ensuring the well-being and development of every camper. By promoting the Y’s mission and values, you’ll contribute to a cause-driven culture focused on community, growth, and belonging.
- Must be at least 16 years old with a strong desire to work with children in an outdoor setting.
- Prior experience working with children is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to assist in teaching and facilitating camp activities.
- Effective communication skills to support, counsel, and motivate campers.
- Adaptability, integrity, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Must complete mandatory new employee trainings and department onboarding.
- CPR/AED and First Aid certifications are preferred.
- Physical ability to fully participate in camp activities, including lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
As a Junior Camp Counselor, you will bring energy, creativity, and enthusiasm to the camp environment. You’ll foster positive relationships with campers and peers, ensure safety, and assist in delivering a high-quality camp program. Your role will include helping with planning and implementing activities, maintaining a clean and secure environment, and adhering to all Y policies and procedures.
