The Hamden/North Haven Y's Camp Mountain Laurel is seeking Swim Instructors to help teach and inspire swimmers of all ages and skill levels. This role is responsible for leading swim lessons, providing instruction and motivation, and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all participants. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide swim instruction to participants of varying skill levels following YMCA guidelines.
- Develop lesson plans and progress reports to track participant improvement.
- Ensure a safe and positive learning environment by following YMCA safety protocols.
- Engage with swimmers and their families, providing encouragement and guidance.
- Monitor pool surroundings and maintain constant awareness of participant safety.
- Be an ambassador for YMCA aquatic programs, helping promote membership and engagement.
- Attend all required meetings and training sessions.
- Minimum age of 16 years.
- Ability to demonstrate proper swimming techniques and instruct participants effectively.
- Must obtain and maintain CPR, AED, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration certifications within 60 days of employment.
- Must obtain and maintain YMCA Swim Lessons Instructor certification within 6 months of employment.
- Strong communication and organizational skills with a passion for helping others.
- Ability to work with diverse populations, including youth and adults.
- Must successfully complete a swimming and physical skills test upon hire and annually.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
