The Lakewood-Trumbull Y Outdoor Center is seeking a Swim Instructor to help teach and inspire swimmers of all ages and skill levels. This role is responsible for leading swim lessons, providing instruction and motivation, and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all participants. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide swim instruction to participants of varying skill levels following YMCA guidelines.
- Develop lesson plans and progress reports to track participant improvement.
- Ensure a safe and positive learning environment by following YMCA safety protocols.
- Engage with swimmers and their families, providing encouragement and guidance.
- Monitor pool surroundings and maintain constant awareness of participant safety.
- Be an ambassador for YMCA aquatic programs, helping promote membership and engagement.
- Attend all required meetings and training sessions.
- Minimum age of 16 years.
- Ability to demonstrate proper swimming techniques and instruct participants effectively.
- Must obtain and maintain CPR, AED, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration certifications within 60 days of employment.
- Must obtain and maintain YMCA Swim Lessons Instructor certification within 6 months of employment.
- Strong communication and organizational skills with a passion for helping others.
- Ability to work with diverse populations, including youth and adults.
- Must successfully complete a swimming and physical skills test upon hire and annually.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
