What are the responsibilities and job description for the Temporary Restorative Specialist-24/25 SY position at Central Falls High School?
This position will be approved until the end of the 24/25 School Year and may continue into the following school year based on funding.
The Central Falls School District is seeking an experienced, competent, and caring individual to assist with implementing restorative practices. The Restorative Specialist position will support both school day and after-school activities as a “Floater” to support all schools. The position requires daily mentoring and empowerment of students and assistance with the day-to-day school operations, specifically, behavior management and student engagement.
Position Specifics:
● This is a Temporary Restorative position
● ALL Restorative Specialists work a 40-hour work week. This is an 8.5-hour-a-day schedule to include a half hour for lunch. Schools have the autonomy to craft Restorative Specialist hours to meet their own school needs and school schedule. That being said, each specialist must work an 8.5-hour day.
● Position does not include any Paid Time Off as a temporary position.
● Position does not include any benefits, as it is a temporary position
● Restorative Specialists ARE scheduled to work during school vacations.
● Restorative Specialists are required to attend districtwide Restorative PD and monthly meetings.
● Restorative positions are considered district-wide. The District reserves the right to change school assignments at any time.
Additional Requirements/Responsibilities:
● Work with students and their families in a professional and caring manner.
● Provide daily support with day-to-day operations (hallway duty, lunch duty, student
transition assistance, attendance, teacher support).
● Address student behaviors and provide real time assistance when needed. ● Serve as a mentor to students.
● When applicable, monitor after school student behaviors.
● Model appropriate de-escalation techniques and utilize restorative practices on a daily
basis.
● Attend school-based extracurricular activities (dances, school events) to provide support
where/when needed.
● Attend district professional learning as indicated by the school principal and head of
restorative.
● Enter disciplinary data daily using the school’s data entry system and protocol. ● All other duties deemed appropriate by the administrative team.
