The Central Falls School District seeks an Assistant Director of Equity, Empowerment, and Excellence for Multilingual Learners who is an innovative, energetic, bold educational leader to join the Director in supporting the district. The Assistant Director of MLLs works alongside administrators to ensure the school’s academic and cultural priorities and practices are aligned in support of student learning and the learning of teachers and staff to support multilingual learners, who represent almost 50% of our CFSD students.

General Description Of Duties:
Assist the Director in supervising staff and coordinating all services related to:
Assure students are appropriately placed in ELD programming.
Ensure the educational needs of MLL students are met.
Accurately reporting and updating all student information and the RIDE MLL Census.
Appropriate supports, data collection, and procedures are followed through the MTSS process for MLLs
Support and grow dual-language programs in the district.
Model and promote assets-based language and instruction in service of learning.
Support the registration process for new students.
Referral, evaluation, disability determination, and the IEP process for dually identified MLLs with disabilities.
Program Operations:
Responsible for co-coordinating with the director and with the building principal(s):
Cultivate, coordinate and collaborate to create targeted strategies for Multilingual learners during the school day and through out-of-school time programming.
Re-design programming to ensure all elements of Rhode Island's MLL regulations and federal civil rights laws are met.
Communicate and evaluate program models through the collaborative use of data.
Monitoring and enhancing databases for compliance and accuracy of services, supports and student data.
Ensure timelines are being followed for student registration, testing, and other requirements as requested by RIDE, the Chief Academic Officer, or the MLL Director.
Attend RIDE-sponsored MLL Director’s meetings. Meet with administration, teachers and staff about state MLL updates.
Create systems to:
Revise and design systems to ensure appropriate MLL services and curriculum are being implemented
Ensure educators are effectively implementing programs, curriculum, and services for MLLs
Ensure clear and consistent high expectations for MLLs and the educators supporting them
Parent and Student Services:
Collaboration with the Director of MLLs, FACE Team, and school principals on family engagement events and activities
Engaging with families with an understanding of services and rights.
Professional Development:
Responsible for developing and implementing professional development for service providers and/or contacting outside agencies to do so with the Director of MLLs.
Create professional development opportunities with the director for teachers, support staff, and teacher assistants in best practices for MLLs including trans-language, co-planning, co-teaching, and equal access to high-quality instruction, and making grade-level standards accessible for all students.
Curriculum:
Participating in curriculum development conversations with other district leaders and/or principals to ensure that multilingual learners are provided HQIM, grade-level content, integrated, content-based English Language Development AND designated ELD.
MLL Regulations and Law:
Responsible for having current knowledge of the laws in matters relating to multilingual learners with a primary focus of ensuring the district is in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
Assist the director in working with families and education advocates on resolving issues related to multilingual learners.
Perform all other duties as assigned by the Director of EEE for MLLs, Chief Academic Officer, or Superintendent.
