What are the responsibilities and job description for the Building Maintenance Technician position at Central Falls School District?
Building Maintenance Technician: The Maintenance Technician position will be based at the new high school and will be responsible for the overall maintenance of the building. Most job duties will be performed at the high school, but may also extend to other locations as needed. The technician will work independently or alongside the general maintenance staff to accomplish shared goals. The role requires troubleshooting and repairing HVAC systems, including diagnosing issues and monitoring conditions through the Building Management System (BMS) across all buildings. The technician will perform various tasks to ensure school facilities' safe, efficient operation and compliance with accessibility and safety codes and regulations. This position reports directly to the Director of Operations.
Essential Job Functions:
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and drawings to determine the efficient completion of a project or repair, and to locate MEP HVAC throughout the building
Must be focused on the building’s energy efficiency and report/ repair anything that is an inefficient use of energy by staff.
Responsible for building and repairing frameworks, supports, and simple wooden structures using scaffolding and ladders
Must be able to climb ladders and to work from heights
Responsible for the maintenance, repair, and construction of cabinets, furniture, doors and hardware, and floor tiles
Responsible for the repair of drywall and moving or altering non-loadbearing walls as needed
Responsible for the repair/replacement of window mechanisms and the replacement of glass
Responsible for the safe operation of hand and power tools
Participates in meetings, workshops, trainings, and seminars to convey and/or gather information required to perform job functions
Maintains and transports tools, supplies, and equipment to ensure the availability of these items necessary to complete a project
Regularly informs the director when parts or supplies are needed or inventory is low..
As directed, performs plowing and snow removal operations
Ability to perform other duties as assigned by the director to meet the specific needs of Central Falls Schools and its students
Must act as the Operations Department representative with contractors and officials entering the building and assist when needed.
