What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Specialist position at Central Falls School District?
The Central Falls School District welcomes applications for the position of Payroll Specialist. In this position, the Specialist is responsible for providing high-quality customer service, which involves paying employees, tracking hours worked, and calculating employees' pay. The candidate will also have a strong grasp of the interrelations between finance and human resources, coupled with good problem-solving skills in order to detect errors that may develop with technology, or human errors from employees and managers.
Position Specifics:
*This is a 12-month salaried non union position. Position includes benefits, retirement/state pension, and generous PTO
*Continue streamlining the Payroll Function and be a vital part of the digital transformation.
*Responsible for processing of the district payroll, including all salaried and hourly employees
*Perform banking activities for direct deposits, vendor deduction payments, submission of related records, and publishing of payroll to employee portal
*Make necessary payroll adjustments regarding pay in conjunction with HR
* Manage electronic employee timesheets to issue additional pay for each pay period
*Assist school staff with correct accounting of time.
*Review pay information prior to payroll run to ensure accuracy (verify against electronic records)
*Maintain a high degree of accuracy in payroll and attendance records for employees, including pay rates, transfers, promotions, taxes, insurance, dues, retirements and annuities.
*Make necessary payroll adjustments regarding pay, benefits, deductions, etc.
*Serve a resource to HR for all forms submitted Municipal Employment Retirement System
*(MERS) and Employment Retirement System of Rhode Island (ERSRI) – (i.e., retirement, terminations).
*Assist in the preparation of reports for local, state and federal agencies. (ACA)
*Ensure compliance with IRS, State and other legislative actions and assist auditors in finding and interpreting district information.
*Process all forms submitted Municipal Employment Retirement System (MERS) and Employment Retirement System of Rhode Island (ERSRI) – (i.e., retirement).
*Work with the Finance Team and Human Resources in maintaining the district wide Enterprise Resource System.
*Assist in preparation of salary projections for budget and negotiations purposes
*Become knowledgeable of the Union and non-union contract provisions for faculty and staff.
*Such other responsibilities as may from time to be assigned by the Chief Financial Officer and/or Superintendent
