What are the responsibilities and job description for the Charge Entry Specialist position at Central Florida Cancer Institute?
Must have experience in:
Proper ICD-10 and CPT4 coding in Radiation Oncology environment, reviewing and input of authorizations, proper medical terminology
Daily Responsibilities include:
- Review pending charges from previous days treatment
- Enter and reconcile charges for daily radiation treatments, OTVs, weekly physics and simulations
- Verify correct CPT codes, modifiers and diagnosis coding
- Ensure accurate bindling/sequencing of treatment plans and devices
- Resolve charge discrepancies, rejections and denials
- Confirm prior authorization (where required) and medical necessity compliance
- Communicate with office lead, providers and physics team to rectify documentation issues
- Perform final charge reconcilation before daily claim submission
- Perform follow-up on any issues encountered during the day
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Skills recommended:
- Familiarity in Athena / Varian / Centricity EMR beneficial
- Medical Billing and Coding Knowledge-proficiency in CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10 codes specific to radiation oncology
- Charge Entry and Reconcilation experience with accurate charge capture, application of modifiers and charge sequencing
- General understanding of oncology procedures (IMRT, #DCRT, SBRT, etc.)
- Microsoft Word & Excel basic functionality
- Organization and ability to prioritize
- Working independently and as a part of a group
- Proper business phone etiquette
- Operate office standard equipment (Phone / fax / email (Outlook) / Computer)
- Ability to work in a fast pace environment
