Central Garden & Pet is hiring an Assistant Plant Manager for our Grass Seed facility in Lebanon, OR. This critical and comprehensive position requires qualified experienced candidates to manage production, work with tight schedules and deadlines, focus on continuous improvement, and ensure safety remains a top priority.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage receiving and production scheduling departments
- Work consistently to improve processes, always looking for a better way that will increase efficiencies, reduce cost, and improve quality
- Monitor Shoplogix program data to ensure good quality metric adherence
- Assist in monitoring inventory of raw products to assure that needed items are on hand for production, with excess inventory kept to a minimum
- Allocate seed to orders for both in-house orders and division needs
- Manage temporary labor acquisition and maintain strong working relationships with temporary agencies
- Always monitor safety assuring that each production employee is equipped with the needed safety devices and is properly working safely
- Assist in solving everyday problems that arise to assure that production stays on track to meet the needs of our customers
- Assist Sales team with order status updates, and trouble shoot to resolve issues
- Manage purchase order data within SAP for products sourced from outside vendors
- Support and actively participate in business meetings at all levels
- Manage vendor contracts and business relationships
- Direct the organization and coordination of annual large scale or special projects, including personnel events
- 5 years’ experience in an order management position in a manufacturing organization
- Advanced level of experience with Microsoft Office, esp. Excel
- Experience in SAP required
- Strong attention to detail with exceptional communication skills
- Strong analytical abilities and knowledge of business processes and cycles
- Strong people skills and the ability to work effectively with team members
- High level of energy and sense of urgency; self-starter; strong and effective multi-tasker
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
- Manufacturing environment where temperatures may vary due to outside temperatures
