Data & Analytics Intern

Central Garden & Pet is growing and so is our Information Services team. Due to an aggressive and exciting roadmap of systems, data, and analysis projects, we are seeking a qualified intern to assist with development and implementation as a part of the Corporate Analytics team. This person will work closely with and under the direction of a Sr. Data Engineer along with the broader Analytics team. This role will be based in our Schaumburg, IL office with the option to work 2 days/week remote.

Key Responsibilities

• Data Visualization and Reporting:
• Assist in migrating and optimizing reports and dashboards from existing platforms to Power BI.
• Work with Tableau and BOBJ to transition key reporting processes.
• Utilize DAX and Power Query to create efficient data models and visualizations.
• Data Automation and Process Improvement:
• Develop and maintain automated datasets to support recurring business reports.
• Work with SQL to extract, transform, and analyze data from multiple sources.
• Identify opportunities to streamline data workflows and improve efficiency.
• Data Integration and Infrastructure:
• Assist in evaluating and implementing data connectors to integrate POS data sources into the company’s data lake.
• Support the organization in making data more accessible and useful for business teams.
• Technical Documentation and Communication:
• Develop user guides and documentation for key analytics tools and datasets.
• Assist in creating reference materials outlining data sources, access, and use cases.
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in analytics, statistics, computer science or related quantitative field
• Familiarity with Power BI, Tableau, and SQL
• A detail-oriented and analytical mindset with a passion for working with data.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within teams.
• Interest in cloud-based data solutions like Azure Data Lake is a plus.
  
  

POSITION INFORMATION

• This position pays $17.00 to $21.00 per hour depending on college grade level
