Summary
Responsible for the analysis of laboratory specimens and subsequent result reporting according to laboratory protocol and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Education:
- Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology with appropriate clinical training in the testing of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent and adult patients or have successfully completed at least a 50 week official US military medical laboratory procedures course and have held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Laboratory Technician).
- MLT (ASCP) or MLT (NCA) registration or MLT eligible under ASCP or NCA.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Appropriate clinical training in the testing of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, and adult patients
- Possess skills for accepting responsibility, making decisions, and working as a team.
- Ability to operate equipment at sitting or standing levels.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work additional hours or shifts and under stress.
- Effective communications skills to include listening, writing, talking, and reading. Ability to communicate via telephone, LIS, email and verbally.
- Knowledge of laboratory functions and specimen requirements

- Light lifting up to 25 pounds, general motion including bending, squatting, reaching, carrying, pushing and pulling.
- Manual dexterity.
- Ability to speak plainly.
- Near visual acuity, ability to discern colors.
- May involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material.
