What is a Meter Supervisor?
The Meter Supervisor is responsible for scheduling, assigning, and overseeing the work of Meter Services personnel engaged in the testing, installation, shipping and receiving of gas and electric metering equipment and rubber PPE in our testing lab and the field.
What does a Meter Supervisor do?
- Plans, schedules, coordinates, evaluates, and provides general and technical supervision for all activities and functions of the Meter departments personnel assigned to both shop and field operations. This includes but is not limited to the installation, programming, testing, maintenance and inspection of electric and gas meters and electric and gas distribution automation equipment.
- Provides supervision of the Meter Shop Storeroom and Warehouse operations including stocking, shipping and receiving of material in support of the Meter department and district operations
- Supervises and oversees the PPE testing lab and personnel ensuring yearly calibration and testing standards to provide tested/safe PPE to personnel in a timely manner
- Supervises the preparation, review and submittal of reports and studies regarding tests, installations, removals, load surveys, budgets, PSC required programs and other yearly programs
- Plans and supervises assigned workforce to maintain the highest level of productivity, cost control, and customer satisfaction
- Investigates and resolves complaints, coordinates customer service needs with other departments as required, and ensures that customers are treated fairly and consistently
- Must be active in the supervision of day-to-day activities, while maintaining vision of the bigger picture and providing leadership to ensure objectives and results stay aligned with Group and Corporate objectives
- Promotes and maintains a safe workplace for employees, contractors, and the general public
- Responds to requests to work outside of normal work hours; provides support for storm restoration efforts
What does it take to be a Meter Supervisor?
Required:
- Associate’s degree in Business Administration, STEM, or a related field and 3 years of operational or supervisory experience. In lieu of an Associate’s degree, a High School Diploma or equivalent and 5 years of operational or supervisory experience
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills along with strong organization and planning skills
- Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Must be willing to respond to all requests to work outside of normal work hours
- Ability to manage a wide variety and number of projects and deadlines
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred:
- Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, STEM, or related field
- Supervisory experience and/or experience directing field work
- Experience within the electric and gas utility industry
