The Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst is a critical member of the Ascend Network Product team. Through the Ascend Network, our job matching platform, Ascend helps job seekers find quality career opportunities that match their interests and skills while supporting employers in their efforts to identify and hire qualified candidates. The QA Analyst will ensure the quality and reliability of Ascend’s software product by identifying areas for improvement through various types of testing.
Key Responsibilities
- Test Planning: Estimate, prioritize, plan, and coordinate comprehensive test cases for new projects and features from start to finish. Investigate and analyze the root causes of process issues, working with the product team to resolve them through test cases – both manual and automated.
- Testing Execution: Execute and manage test cases thoroughly for both new and existing projects. Utilize Jira for defect tracking, test case management, and reporting.
- Bug Identification & Reporting: Create and document detailed test steps for bug verification and execution using Zephyr Scale. Monitor and assist with the debugging process, ensuring that all issues are properly identified and reported.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with developers, QA engineers, and other team members to understand identify areas of improvement, design project requirements and ensure effective alignment and testing. Actively participate in Scrum activities, providing feedback and updates during sprint planning, retrospectives, and daily stand ups.
- Continuous Improvement: Continuously enhance testing practices and support the team’s growth, particularly in automation. Stay up to date with the latest trends, tools and technologies in QA testing.

- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quality assurance
Required Skills
- Hands-on experience with manual testing and test case creation
- Familiarity with Zephyr Scale or similar test management tools
- Experience with Jira or similar bug tracking systems
- Understanding of SDLC and STLC processes, with experience in Agile (Scrum) methodologies
- A self-starter with the ability to estimate, prioritize, and project manage effectively
- High attention to detail with a focus on producing precise and reliable test documentation
Preferred Skills
- Experience with or an interest in learning automation testing tools (e.g., Selenium, TestNG, or Playwright)
- Experience with databases, SQL query languages, and scripting/programming languages such as Python, TypeScript, or Java is a plus
- Knowledge of performance testing

- Manager: Vice President of Product & Engineering, Ascend Indiana
- Office location: 16 Tech, downtown Indianapolis, with hybrid work (in office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays each week)
- Work week: 40 hours/week
