BIOCROSSROADS OVERVIEW:
BioCrossroads, the life sciences initiative of Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP), ignites the continued growth of Indiana’s robust life science and pharmaceutical industry by activating the sector through strategic research and market knowledge, strengthening the substrate of the Indiana ecosystem with a focus on talent, companies and capital and cultivating the community by connecting and convening academic, corporate, and philanthropic partners.
JOB OVERVIEW
The Director of Workforce Development, Life Sciences works with the Senior Vice President of Workforce Development in advancing BioCrossroads’ strategy to develop a robust workforce pipeline to support the needs of the life sciences (e.g., pharmaceuticals, biologics, medical devices, in-vitro diagnostics) industry sectors. The Director will play a critical role in leading the scope of programs, strategy, and logistics related to establishing and operating BioCrossroads as the industry talent association for life sciences within the Indiana Apprenticeship Pathway (IAP) system. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in consulting, excellent communication and project management skills, and a passion for driving social impact through partnerships and connections.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Youth Apprenticeship Implementation: Develop and drive the strategic vision and implementation of the Indiana Apprenticeship Pathway (IAP) for life sciences.
- Strategic Thought Leader: Lead and motivate others to align with and work towards achieving shared strategic goals. Develop and implement initiatives encompassed within the strategic plan alongside the Senior Vice President of Workforce Development.
- Program Management: Manage programmatic initiatives, leading in direction, execution, and logistics.
- Convening(s) Management: Plan and envision events, workshops, and meetings that engage partners and promote increased collaboration.
- Partnership Relationship Management: Serve as a primary point of contact for national and state partners, managing high level communication and ensuring stakeholder expectations are aligned and met. Understand the unique needs of each industry partner and provide excellent service through BioCrossroads’ recommended workforce strategies.
- Policy Research: Conduct effective workforce research and synthesize findings, applying relevant information to the development of strategic workforce recommendations. Synthesize external trends into action paths for team.
- Resource Development: Assist in the development of proposals, grant applications, and other funding opportunities related to industry partnerships. Serve as a primary point of contact for funder relations. Demonstrate value to employers to secure funding support of initiatives.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay informed about trends and best practices in industry engagement and apply this knowledge to enhance the organization's approach.
- Leadership: Guide and motivate others to align with and work towards shared goals. Foster an environment where team members are empowered, encouraged and provided with the resources needed for growth and success.
- Cross-Collaboration: Drive conversations across CICP sister initiatives related to increased interconnectivity and organization-wide support.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical sciences, and/or a related field.
Experience
- Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in vocational educational or talent development, preferably within a non-profit organization; Experience in the life sciences sector strongly preferred, particularly direct experience with projects and programs focused on developing and manufacturing drugs, biologics, medical devices and in-vitro diagnostics.
