Position Summary :
Performs maternal mortality reviews per New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) guidelines and direction. Travels to hospitals statewide to abstract information from medical records. Develops case narratives and assists with presentation of cases, up to five times a year, to the Case Review Team, a multidisciplinary professional group. Enters each reviewed case into MMRIA.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following :
- Works collaboratively with NJ statewide hospitals and other agencies when appropriate to complete mortality reviews
- Abstracts pertinent information during review of patient records
- Utilizing the information from case abstraction, develops a detailed case summary to present to the NJ Maternal Mortality Review Committee (NJ MMRC)
- Attends NJ MMRC meetings as requested
- Enters data from assigned cases into the MMRIA database
- Demonstrates advanced educational and specialized clinical expertise in the perinatal field in performing chart abstractions and preparing case narratives for multidisciplinary review team
- Performs special projects and maternal mortality grant related activities, ensuring compliance with objectives as appropriate
- Other duties may be assigned
Working Conditions :
There are no unusual work conditions associated with this position. Noise level in the office is moderate. Professional / business attire is required. Employees are required to attend meetings at external locations and will therefore experience external weather conditions.
Requirements
Education : Current licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey; Bachelors Degree required, Master's Degree in Nursing preferred and additional education in Public Health or associated field desired.
Experience : Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in maternal and child health education and five (5) years supervisory / administrative experience. Knowledge and experience relating to the field of non-profit. Must demonstrate communication, public speaking, and leadership abilities. Experience with program development / implementation, grant writing, and advocacy.
Computer proficiency required with Microsoft programs. Strong interpersonal & oral / written communication skills required.
Valid Driver's license with the ability to provide proof of ongoing automobile insurance coverage is required. This position will entail reimbursable local and statewide travel utilizing personal vehicle.
