Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Services Representative to join our team at Central Maine Medical Center. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position that pays $20 per hour.
The Patient Services Representative is responsible for performing a variety of duties associated with daily clinic preparation, patient identification, check-in/out, charge posting, cash management, and patient appointment scheduling. This role involves customer service, message distribution, ancillary scheduling, and referrals management.
The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, minimum one year of work experience in directly communicating and providing service to patients or the public, preferably in a healthcare-related field. Prior medical office experience and knowledge of medical terminology are preferred.
Essential Duties
- Serves as the champion of the patient experience by engaging patients using exceptional customer service practices.
- Prepares for clinic visits by reviewing next day patients and completing next day preparation activities.
- Maintains private physician office charts.
- Checks-in patient upon arrival in the practice, identifies correct patient information, verifies demographic data, and presents required forms for signature.
- Copies, files, and scans insurance cards according to procedure.
- Utilizes centralized scheduling systems to schedule appointments, verify and update patient demographic information, eligibility, and transfers to registration for updates.
- Schedules tests and procedures, completes and distributes ancillary service requisitions, and checks-out patients.
- Communicates with patients and staff using multiple advanced communication tools.
