Events include Friday Family Movies, Egg Hunts, Family Dances, Pumpkin Carving, Gingerbread House Decorating, and Big Band Dance.PositionUnder general supervision, to administer recreation programs, classes and special events for community members of all ages; to assist in the planning, organization, implementation and leading of activities. This is an entry level classification that requires limited time on the job before an incumbent is capable of functioning at the full journey level. Initially, assignments are limited in scope and under more direct supervision. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of a variety of recreational programs and events at a park, community center and/or other recreational facility. Assist in the preparation of and lead indoor and outdoor activities; field trips and special events; oversee the safety and welfare of participants.Follow rules, regulations, policies and procedures for the program(s) and learn to provide some instruction to participants under the guidance of the program leader(s).Assist in preparing facilities for programs and events including setting up and cleaning up activities and equipment, stocking bathrooms, emptying trash cans, etc.Perform duties as a Designated Disaster Service Worker per California State law during natural and manmade disasters, as needed.Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.Knowledge of: Techniques, rules and equipment used in recreational activities and games.Youth supervision and interaction techniques.Skill to: Provide excellent customer service.Communicate clearly and effectively.Take direction from a variety of upper-level staff.Work in a safe manner, following Town safety practices and procedures.Ability to: Work collaboratively with diverse community members and Town staff.Lift and carry at least twenty (20) pounds.Interpret and apply rules, regulations and health and safety standards.Respond to requests and inquiries from the participants, parents, other staff and general public.Exercise good judgment, flexibility, creativity, and sensitivity in response to changing situations and needs.Maintain a flexible work schedule based on program requirements.
