Director / Benefits & Wellness
The Director of Benefits and Wellness oversees all university employee benefit programs for faculty and staff, including competitive health and welfare coverage, wellness and employee assistance programs, tuition benefits, and retirement/pension benefit programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and administer all university employee benefit programs
- Provide recommendations to promote effective, efficient, and compliant administration of employee benefits
- Manage the administration of all university employee benefit programs, including regular evaluation and analysis of programs and services
- Collaborate with external benefit consultants and vendors to develop and maintain productive relationships
- Ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations
- Prepare benefit documentation, such as plan documents and amendments, summary plan descriptions, and vendor agreements
- Develop, implement, and evaluate benefits-related policies and procedures
- Manage annual open enrollment, including communications, presentations, coordination with collective bargaining, and enrollment processes
- Design and facilitate the new employee benefit orientation process
- Lead and facilitate CMU's Health Care Committee and Retirement Investment Advisory Committee
- Manage and supervise the benefits & wellness team, fostering a culture of collaboration and strong customer-service orientation
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in human resource management, business administration, or a related field
- Six years of administrative work experience in human resources
- Demonstrated proficiency with spreadsheets, current office software, and various software applications
