Position Summary
The Counselor Education Unit in the Department of Counseling, Educational Leadership, and Higher Education (CEH) at Central Michigan University is now accepting applications for two, 9–month, remote, full-time fixed term faculty positions (two year contract term) in Counseling, effective August 2025. The successful candidate will be committed to the academic success of all students and to an environment that acknowledges, encourages, respects, and celebrates diversity and differences. Members of underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The CMU Counseling Program continues to grow since adding its CACREP accredited fully online program. Please consider joining us as we work to meet the increasing need for mental health professionals in our communities and schools. We are seeking remote, fixed-term Counselor Educators who completed education in a CACREP Accredited Program to teach in our online program (both synchronous and asynchronous formats). This position is open to applicants outside Michigan, but priority will be given to candidates living in Michigan. The CMU Counseling Program offers 60-credit degrees in Addiction, Clinical Mental Health, and School Counseling concentrations. The online program offers synchronous (live online) classes in an 8-week accelerated or 16-week format; live synchronous classes are taught from 6-9 pm Eastern Time, and we offer 8-week asynchronous classes. The positions will begin August 2025. Individuals must have a professional counseling identity demonstrated by clinical experience and active licensure/credentialing as a counselor. Summer teaching opportunities may also be available.

Job Duties For This Position Include
- Teach four classes per semester (fall and spring) in our CACREP-accredited M.A. in Counseling program, in both synchronous and asynchronous formats;
- Attend unit and department meetings as scheduled;
- Participate in unit and department activities related to this position; and
- Other duties as assigned by the Department Chair.
Required Qualifications
- An earned doctorate in Counselor Education, from a CACREP-accredited institution or ABD if proof from Dissertation Chair of defense and graduation by August 2025.
- Post-graduate professional clinical and/or school counseling experience.
- A professional counseling license and/or certification; or license eligible in Michigan.
- Understanding and demonstrated knowledge and implementation of the multicultural and social justice competencies in counseling.
- Professional counseling identity, including membership in ACA, ASCA or other professional counseling associations.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Demonstrated competence in teaching with experience in the online environment.
- Demonstrated experience teaching in a CACREP-accredited Counseling program.
