TITLE: Summer String Camp grades 4-8
REPORTS TO AND IS EVALUATED BY: Director of Teaching, Learning, and Assessment
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Part-time bargaining unit position – Temporary Summer Position; FLSA Non-Exempt.
ANTICIPATED START DATE: July 21-24, 2025
HOURS: 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
LOCATION: Pennridge Central Middle School
COMPENSATION: In accordance with PEA Collective Bargaining Agreement
PRINCIPAL FUNCTION: A 4-day workshop where students will strengthentheir playing skills by practicing scales, sight-reading, and learningnew music while rehearsing in an ensemble. The camp alsoincludes an informal mini-concert on the last day.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and conduct a variety of creative and educational activities that cater to the interests and age levels of the students.
- Promote teamwork, communication, and respect among students through group activities and collaborative projects.
- Maintain a safe environment by supervising students, ensuring they follow camp rules, and addressing any safety concerns promptly.
- Motivate students to try new things in various areas of interest.
- Offer individual or group support when needed, whether socially, or emotionally, ensuring that each student feels valued and included.
- Set clear expectations for behavior and encourage positive conduct through praise, redirection, and consistent rules.
- Make learning enjoyable and memorable through music that keep the students excited and engaged.
- Keep open communication with parents about their child’s progress and any issues that arise. Work collaboratively with fellow staff to ensure smooth operations.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Bachelor’s degree; Pennsylvania Teacher Certification – Music K-12 Preferred
