About the Role: The Maintenance Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and optimizing mechanical systems and equipment within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role involves preventive and corrective maintenance, process improvements, and supervision of maintenance activities to ensure operational efficiency and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and troubleshoot mechanical problems to enhance equipment performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement solutions to mechanical and reliability issues.
- Manage equipment repairs, upgrades, and installations, coordinating with in-house teams or external contractors.
- Supervise mechanical crews when necessary to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.
- Conduct periodic inspections of machinery, plant equipment, and automated systems to maintain optimal performance.
- Identify potential hazards and participate in Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for high-risk maintenance activities, including planned shutdowns and emergency repairs.
- Analyze and evaluate engineering and design changes to assess the impact on maintenance and operability.
- Assess and implement new technologies and repair alternatives to improve cost efficiency and delivery timelines.
- Support reliability processes such as Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Return on Investment (ROI) assessments, and Reliability Roadmaps to optimize costs and asset effectiveness.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Professional Engineer Certificate will be beneficial
- 3 years of experience in production or facilities engineering.
- Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems in a manufacturing setting.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to troubleshoot and implement corrective actions.
- Strong leadership and teamwork skills, with the ability to delegate and supervise mechanical crews.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Maintenance Management Systems (MMS).
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations in an industrial environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with maintenance teams and leadership.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing plant setting with exposure to industrial equipment and mechanical systems.
- Requires standing, walking, and occasional lifting of heavy components.
- May require overtime, weekend work, or emergency call-ins based on operational needs.
