Central Montana Learning Resource Center Cooperative Job Description Job Title:ITINERANT SPECIAL EDUCATION RESOURCE TEACHER - (PreK-12) Reports To:CMLRCC Director/School Superintendents Date:November 12, 2024 SUMMARY: To provide for each child identified for special education services an instructional program that will implement the long-range goals and specific objectives of the Individualized Education Program (I.E.P.) ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned •Provide supplemental instruction to regular classroom instruction as needed in cooperative area schools. •Work closely with regular classroom teachers with whom special education students are placed. Advise the teachers on the strengths and limitations of students and aid in adapting curriculum to meet student needs. •Plan individual student programs throughout the year according to established IEP and Evaluation Team recommendations. These programs should provide for sequential growth in specified skill areas. •Develop materials and techniques to address the individual needs of students with disabilities. •Maintain systematic follow-up contact with staff involved in each student’s program. •Evaluate student progress on a continuing basis and conduct individualized standardized academic assessments as recommended by the Evaluation Team. •Assist each student’s guidance counselor in meeting student needs related to scheduling, career counseling, transition, and parent contacts. •Serve as a consultant to school district staff to assure all special education processes comply with state and federal laws. •Keep all building staff informed of the needs and special considerations of students requiring special education services. •Maintain frequent contact with parents by telephone or conference regarding student progress. •Provide information for budget preparation and state and federal reports as requested by the Director. •Participate in in-service programs designed to foster understanding of the needs of identified students and provide skills for successful implementation of the IEP. •Maintain accurate, complete reports as required by Special Education regulations and policy. •Coordinate referral and evaluation process at component school(s). •Monitor progress and grades in regular classroom in cooperation with regular teachers. •Work closely with and supervise paraprofessional(s) in the scheduling, planning, and implementation of individualized programs for students receiving special education services. •Perform such other duties as directed by CMLRCC Director and district superintendents. •Exhibits acceptable work habits and performs tasks in a professional manner: a.Is regular in attendance and punctual for work. b.Organizes work and manages time to achieve efficiency and high quality of work. c.Performs tasks neatly and accurately in accordance with desired quality and quantity. d.Is conscientious in performing tasks on time and meeting established deadlines. e.Produces a high quality of work in an effective and efficient manner. f.Initiates tasks in a self-directed manner and performs work with a minimum of supervision. g.Maintains work area and assigned equipment in a neat orderly fashion. •Works cooperatively and effectively with staff, students, supervisors and the public: a.Exhibits a pleasing, courteous professional disposition in performing tasks assigned. b.Exhibits a willingness to accept constructive criticism. c.Strives to improve weak areas of performance. d.Active in community activities. •Exhibits an overall motivation to succeed in the position: a.Works diligently to make a job more efficient and effective. b.Seeks to improve quality and quantity of tasks performed. c.Provides positive feedback to supervisor(s) for implementing ideas which will make the work assigned more effective and efficient. •Possess a thorough knowledge of the scope of work to be performed: a.Understands the overall scope of work to be performed and masters the details of individual tasks. b.Understands/follows basic rules and regulations involved with the scope of work to be performed. c.Understands and keeps up-to-date on changes in Federal and State laws. •Exhibits desirable personal characteristics: a.Maintains proper grooming consistent with the type of task being performed. b.Communicates effectively using proper grammar and language, orally and in writing. c.Maintains self-control and a friendly, outgoing disposition. d.Maintains confidentiality of related work matters as applicable. The above performance responsibilities are not all inclusive and may be altered or added to by the Director or Management Board. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Bachelor’s Degree with a major in Special Education 2. Montana Teaching Certificate with full endorsement in Special Education 3. Prior teaching experience in special education 4. Prior teaching experience in general elementary and secondary school programs 5. Experience with a broad range of disabilities and varying methods of program implementation LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public both in writing and orally. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. TECHNOLOGY SKILLS: The work environment has increasingly become technology driven. Central Montana Learning Resource Center Cooperative expects staff to meet reasonable expectations in the use of computers and other technology. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. PHYSICAL DEMAND: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee will occasionally need to work long hours. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. DRUG FREE WORKPLACE: Screening tests for alcohol and illegal drug use may be required before hiring and during your employment at the Central Montana Learning Resource Center Cooperative. Employees of the Central Montana Learning Resource Center Cooperative must submit to a fingerprint criminal background check. Any appointment will be contingent upon the results of the criminal background report received from the Department of Justice, which must be acceptable to the Board, in its sole discretion. EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s Policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 187 day contract. Salary and work year to be determined according to the current Board approved schedule.
