By joining the team as a Loss Control Construction Specialist, you will work with Insureds, Agents, and Company Personnel through survey consultations and educational guidance.
How You’ll Make an Impact
Conduct Loss Control surveys within a 4 – 6-hour radius (approx.) of their home of record for middle market Construction accounts over a designated premium threshold
Conduct surveys for all hazard 4 Construction vertical accounts (regardless of premium size) within their territory.
Assist with training, onboarding, and quality oversight for any additional LC Construction Specialists (new or existing) within the Company
Create and update Loss Control technical resources related to the Construction Vertical (survey guides, bulletins, webinars, and research of new vendors) with support from the LC leadership
Complete out of territory trips for LC surveys on middle market Construction accounts, 3 – 4
times a year
Attend Construction Underwriting group meetings as requested and visit key agency partners and insureds in conjunction with our Construction Underwriters and Marketing.
Provide relevant onsite trainings and certifications for middle market Construction accounts as requested (such as OSHA trainings).
Conduct surveys of non-Construction related accounts within neighboring LC reps territories, as workloads allow.
Independently complete continuing education and certifications that support technical skills related to the Construction vertical
Field-based role: Travels via assigned company vehicle within a defined territory to provide Loss Control services to policyholders and agents in the assigned territories
Provide internal training support to Loss Control and Underwriting teams
Complete hazard 4 reviews of all Construction related Loss Control reports
Complete assigned tasks and projects that support underwriting profitability
Analyze claims, hazards, and safety data in order to make effective decisions and recommendations
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Fire Prevention, or related field related field and 6 years’ experience in Loss Control
Or 8 years’ experience in Loss Control
Risk Management designation of ARM, CRP, CPCU, CFPS, CRM, ASP, CSP, or OHST
Achieved or actively pursuing the CRIS
Valid Driver’s license
Must be able to climb ladders and access building rooftops
Ability to professionally interact with our agents and insureds
Ability to investigate, gather facts and information, and analyze coverage
Understand the importance of capturing data
Possess an innovative and continuous improvement mindset
Possess a positive, professional, cooperative, and quality-conscious service attitude
Ability to work under pressure, deal with interpersonal conflict, and handle a heavy workload
Possess analytical and problem-solving skills
Possess verbal and written communication skills, including negotiation, presentation, and influence skills
Ability to understand Central Insurance’s policies and processes
Preferred
Loss Control experience in conducting surveys for small and middle market Construction related risks such as Residential and Commercial Contractors (to include Civil Contractors, Homebuilders, General Contractors, and Artisan Contractors).
Residence in the state of MA, NH, CT, NY
Ability to make favorable impressions with agents, insureds, and company personnel.
Excellent organization and territory planning skills.
Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health with a concentration in Construction Safety
