Location: Hybrid Work Model – Van Wert, Ohio or Dublin, Ohio
We are looking for a Software Engineering Manager that can lead, coach, and empower a team of software engineers to deliver world-class solutions. You will partner with product management on roadmap development, with tech leads on design and architecture, and be responsible for a delivery process that pushes features into production consistently and with high quality. We expect our leaders to be coaches and people development is a critical focus for this role.
What you will do
Must be able to drive software delivery on the Insurance Product roadmap.
Leads engineers on one product-facing teams. Plays a critical role in building of various software engineering projects while aligning them with business and following security strategies and engineering org standards.
Establishes operational objectives, procedures and work plans and delegates assignments to the team(s).
Makes final decisions on implementation and ensures operational effectiveness.
Guides the product manager on design and implementation trade-offs against economic and time costs.
Translates problems into designs that guide software engineering teams through implementation of the product.
Has the detailed technical knowledge necessary to explain feature requirements to developers and work with them to deliver these product improvements to end users.
Engages with Tech Leads and broader Central Insurance technology excellence communities to provide technical vision and strategy for the teams; design and lead a technical roadmap, balancing short- and long-term technology investments.
Executes on technology strategy and engineering roadmaps created by Director or Senior Managers.
Provides engineers with specific coaching on how to be scale their effectiveness through technical, professional or business growth
Conduct managerial interviews for candidates.
Participates in the Incident Management on-call rotation to help ensure the availability goals for CMI are met, by working with Devops engineers and development team members.
What you will bring
4 years related experience in PL
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience on teams that supported software for Finance & Accounting teams in the Insurance industry.
Technical credibility: Experience as an engineer or senior engineer
General understanding of leadership skills, including coaching, team building, and conflict resolution
Advanced project management skills including time and risk management, resource prioritization, and project structuring.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage teams across geographies to drive workforce development and achieve desired results
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including negotiation, presentation, and influence skills
Advanced business acumen, technical knowledge, and extensive knowledge in applications and technologies
Strong multi-tasking and prioritization skills
Ability to understand Central Insurance’s policies and processes
