What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Assistant position at Central Nebraska Humane Society?
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Providing basic health care for all animals being sheltered in the facility
- Conducting health examinations and diagnostic procedures
- Assisting the licensed veterinarian during operations
- Maintaining medical supplies and equipment
- Administering medications and vaccinations
- Conducting behavioral assessments
- Performing basic first aid for animals, including the bandaging/wrapping of wounds
- Maintaining medical records and appropriate documentation
- Performing basic grooming procedures, including nail trimmings
Position Requirements:
- Friendly and outgoing personality
- Must be able to follow instructions and communicate well with veterinarian and other employees
- Bending, kneeling, physical lifting (must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds)
- Must have a passion for animals and animal welfare
- Must be reliable and punctual
- Must be able to multitask and work in a fast paced environment
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting
- Ability to effectively handle and control animals
- Ability to accurately evaluate the health and condition of animals
- Must be detail oriented and organized
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
