Central New York Psychiatric Center (CNYPC) is operated by the New York State Office of Mental Health, Division of Forensic Services. CNYPC is a dynamic organization that provides comprehensive forensic mental health services through a continuum of care for over 10,500 persons both at its inpatient setting in Marcy, located in Central New York, and in the Correctional System throughout New York State. CNYPC employs nearly 1,500 exceptional individuals who provide care and treatment within a culture of safety that employs a team approach that fosters hope, recovery and resilience. At its 500-bed secure inpatient site in Marcy New York, CNYPC provides a continuum of psychiatric services for patients admitted to the forensic hospital from New York State and County correctional settings for acute care, pre-trial evaluations, competency evaluations and commitment pursuant to NYS Corrections Law. The secure treatment facility also provides specialized treatment for persons civilly confined under New York’s Sex Offender Management and Treatment Act. CNYPC also provides mental health services along a continuum of care for over 10,000 persons incarcerated in New York Department of Corrections and Community Services institutions, including special programs in satellite units throughout New York State. Immediate Openings for Rehabilitation Counselor II positions in our Sexual Offender Treatment Program
Duties Description:
As a Rehabilitation Counselor 2, you will provide a full range of rehabilitative/habilitative services to individuals with more complex issues, including:
- Assessing individuals’ rehabilitative needs and coordinating necessary psychosocial, educational, and/or vocational services.
- Monitoring and documenting progress toward established goals and objectives.
- Determining what changes have occurred as a result of treatment plan.
- Assuring compliance with recordkeeping requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Bachelors’ degree in a human service field* AND three years post- bachelor’s qualifying experience
- *A Masters’ degree in a human service field* AND two years of post-bachelor’s qualifying experience
- *A Master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling AND one year of post-bachelor’s qualifying experience.
For the purpose of this posting, human service field includes disciplines related to the following: addiction studies; child and family studies; communication disorders; community health; education; gerontology; health administration; human services; nursing; nutrition; occupational therapy; physical therapy; psychology; recreation therapy; including art, dance, drama, and music; rehabilitation counseling; social work; and sociology.
Qualifying Experience: You must have professional experience providing vocational, psycho social, or rehabilitative /habilitative services in an agency primarily serving individuals diagnosed with developmental disabilities, mental illness, or addictions. Internship experience does not count if it was credited toward the qualifying degree.
Hiring Rate: $ 68,523.00
