The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting the Pharmacy Services Director and Staff Pharmacist in daily pharmacy activities, and in cooperation with other office staff in assisting with safe and effective patient care in compliance with established standards and protocols of CNAHSI’s goals and objectives.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greets patients and visitors with a smile and responds to their needs in a courteous and respectful manner at all times.
- Ensures that patients are processed promptly, efficiently, and in a respectful manner.
- Receives patient data and enters new and refill prescription data into the computer for filling by the Pharmacist.
- Maintains accurate records of all prescription medication received and dispensed.
- Orders, receives, prices, and check incoming medication for correctness and places them on shelves.
- Generates daily reports via computer, such as daily logs for Rx, OTC, and Controlled Substances and files them daily.
- Provides general secretarial duties required in the pharmacy, such as answering the telephone, typing, and completing various statistical forms daily.
- Prepares daily bank deposits and submits to the closing supervisor at the end of the day.
- Maintains the security of the pharmacy and its contents at all times.
- Operates the pharmacy in a clean and orderly manner at all times.
- Adheres to all policies and standard operating procedures of the Pharmacy department and CNAHSI, and works constructively and cooperatively with all staff and representatives from other agencies and organizations.
- Meets continuing education requirements as required by the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy. Submits proof of license renewal annually to the Human Resources Office.
- Attends staff meetings as required.
- Performs other work-related duties in the department as needed and with the Corporation as assigned.
