JOB DESCRIPTION: ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL
SALARY SCHEDULE: ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL SCHEDULE
DEPARTMENT: ELEMENTARY INSTRUCTION
FLSA STATUS: EXEMPT
SAFETY-SENSITIVE: YES
POSITION SUMMARY:
Direct and manage instructional programs and supervise operations and personnel at the site level. Provide instructional leadership to ensure high standards of instructional service. Oversee compliance with district policies, the success of instructional programs, student achievement, and the operations of all campus activities. Duties also include setting performance goals, hiring and evaluating staff, visiting classrooms, preparing budget reports, and other duties as necessary.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Master's degree from an accredited four-year college or university
- Elementary administrator certification recognized by the State of Oklahoma
- Previous administrative experience preferred, but not required
- At least three years experience in education.
- Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
- Minimum: one (1) year of prior principalship experience required
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead in the development, implementation, and communication of educational goals.
- Provide strong and positive educational leadership in organizing, developing, and administering the instructional program of the assigned school.
- Provide leadership in developing the necessary climate for change and growth within the school.
- Supervise teaching staff and programs in accordance with building and district philosophy.
- Oversee custodial, cafeteria operations, and other support services to maintain an efficient, clean, safe, attractive, and functional facility.
- Establish and maintains effective discipline in the school and promote a positive school climate.
- Demonstrate knowledge of finance and budget within the specific area(s) of authority and discharges the responsibility for making expenditures in accordance with the operational philosophy of the Board of Education.
- Additional duties that may be assigned by immediate supervisor or above.
LANGUAGE AND GRAMMAR SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to compose and write grammatically correct correspondence and memos.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, schedule form, or blueprint form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fume or airborne particles. The employee frequently works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts, extreme cold (including outdoors), extreme heat (including direct sunlight), risk of electrical shock and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment will vary from somewhat loud to extremely loud.
To ensure continuity of services, a different work location may be necessary in the event of a health crisis or disruptive situation that requires the closing of school and/or office buildings. An employee’s eligibility for a varied work location will be determined by the superintendent of schools. Expectations and guidelines for this change will be distributed by the employee’s supervisor, based on his/her role and responsibilities.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Employee may occasionally be required to supervise a varying number of employees in the overall direction, coordination, and completion of tasks as assigned.
