POSITION SUMMARY
Under general supervision, performs as an Accounting Assistant for the School Nutrition and General Purpose departments duties & responsibilities include fiscal record keeping for School Nutrition funds, including but not limited to, collecting reconciling and preparing receipts for deposits in various accounts; issuing, preparing, and processing purchase orders; reconciling statements and preparing remittance invoices for payment; maintaining all related purchase order and remittance files; performing vendor correspondence, assists in processing state and federal reports.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma.
- Must have the ability to communicate well with faculty, students, parents, and community. Competency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Receives and channels incoming calls and provides public service information.
- Helps in the procurement of food and supplies for all cafeterias; issues and processes purchase orders, prepares,
- all remittance invoices, monitors and maintains records of accounts.
- Assists in processing state and federal reports.
- Assists in entering invoices and issuing checks for payment to vendors, and filing paid bills
- Receives and records currency and checks in payment of accounts receivable, prepares bank deposits and balances bank statements for cafeterias.
- Prepares journal entries for cash and accounts receivable.
- Assists in maintaining bookkeeping system for School Nutrition funds.
- Assists in maintaining individual school cafeteria and consolidated School Nutrition fund accounts.
- Secures authorization to pay for capital equipment and other materials as required.
- Handles personal contacts with all levels of employees, administration, and representatives of suppliers. Performs a variety of general clerical duties.
- Assumes responsibility for knowing and following proper procedures.
- May require on site visits to schools to assist individual managers with operations in cafeterias, delivering or picking up documents.
- May assist or perform monthly edit checks and monthly cumulative reports.
- Keeps records of all commodity transactions, i.e., receivables, allocations, transfers, monthly inventories by school, and end of year inventory balances for both commodity and commercial
- inventory.
- Maintains records of returned checks to School Nutrition.
- Responsible for maintaining General Purpose monthly utilities spreadsheet.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs other work duties or responsibilities as assigned by the Nutrition Director or the Director of Schools.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES
This position requires lifting of objects not to exceed 25 pounds, without assistance and the wearing of a safety support belt, and frequent lifting and/or carrying objects that weigh 10 pounds or more. Other physical abilities that may be required are:
