What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Manager position at Central Office?
Jonesboro Public Schools is accepting applications for a District Business Manager. Must have a college degree. Certificate, license, or other related credential required (CPA, CASBO, etc.) Previous related job experience required. Business Manager reports to the superintendent and supervises staff members designated by the superintendent. The job goal of the Business Manager is to administer the business affairs of the district in such a way as to provide the best possible educational services with the financial resources available. Performance responsibilities include:
- Supervise the management of the financial affairs of the schools.
- Assumes responsibility for budget development and long-range financial planning.
- Establishes and supervises a program of accounting adequate to record in detail all money and credit transactions.
- Supervises all accounting operations.
- Supervises the collection, safekeeping, and distribution of all funds.
- Manages the district's real estate and insurance programs.
- Supervises the district's supporting services, through the directors of facilities, transportation, purchasing, food services, federal programs, special education, athletics and other school related services.
- Administers a budget control system for the district.
- Acts as adviser to the superintendent on all questions relating to the business and finacial affairs of the district.
- Assists in recruiting, hiring, training, supervising and evaluating all financial and support staff personnel.
- Arranges for the internal auditing of school accounts.
- Interprets the financial concern of the district to the community.
This position is a 245 day contract and compensation is based on the JPS salary schedule.
