QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of five years of successful teaching experience. Master's degree or higher in Curriculum Development or Educational Leadership and valid Missouri certification. Prior building level administrative experience preferred. Effective communication skills. Effective team-building and organizational skills.
REPORTS TO: Superintendent
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve months, benefits according to Board policies.
JOB GOAL: The Director of Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment, and Professional Learning is responsible for providing effective instructional leadership. Major responsibilities include the educational program, student development and making recommendations on instructional materials and the district professional development budget.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Provides leadership and regular communication with building leadership and instructional coaches.
- Oversees district programs, i.e. Title, Gifted and Talented, ELL, Homeless, Library Services, Substitute Teachers, New Teacher Orientation, etc.
- Works with teachers and principals to direct, coordinate and facilitate instructional improvement initiatives.
- Oversees the development and implementation of high quality local assessments to meet state requirements and track student progress on state standards.
- Develops and administers the district’s assessment program and reports accordingly.
- Develops and implements program evaluations for all District instructional programs.
- Assists teachers and administrators in interpreting assessment and evaluation information in making programmatic and instructional decisions.
- Collaborates with other District personnel in developing and implementing quality educational programs and evaluations.
- Coordinate grading and reporting protocol and practices
- Oversee professional development regarding classroom assessment, grading, and other areas as needed
- Develops annual and long-range instructional goals of the district.
- Monitors and evaluates the performance and progress of the district’s instructional program.
- Develops and monitors the annual department budget within the guidelines of the district and/or state.
- Ensures that program objectives are appropriate and effectively monitored.
- Applies a working knowledge of federal, state and district requirements to revise instructional and educational programs.
- Ensures that district CSIP objectives are incorporated into the district’s professional development plan.
- Maintains current knowledge of effective instructional strategies and practices that support and enhance program effectiveness.
- Evaluates curricular resources and serves as a resource to the educational staff.
- Establishes and coordinates a cycle of curriculum review/revision as well as the acquisition and implementation of material resources to support these cycles.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Monitor and ensure that all needed documents and data have been submitted
- Provides professional development to administrators and teachers in the area of data use and assessment.
- Maintains current knowledge on state and federal requirements in the areas of assessment and school improvement.
- Serves Oversees on committees as directed.
- Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: An individual who holds this position must frequently move in and around buildings and grounds to visit classrooms, attend meetings and supervise bus loading and unloading areas and sit for an hour or more at a time. The position requires a moderate amount of travel.
CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT: The work environment is consistent with a typical office environment.
