|
Purpose: To provide comprehensive pupil personnel services; and to support the Mission of the Trimble County School System to ensure that every student enrolled gains full advantage from his/her educational opportunities. To provide oversight and resources to other areas assigned.
Reports To: Superintendent and/or Assistant Superintendent
Qualifications:
- State certification for Director of Pupil Personnel
- Certification in educational leadership, administration or related fields
- Master’s Degree
- At least five (5) years of successful field experience in Education, Student Services, or related field.
- Three (3) years prior administrative/supervisory experience
- Possess strong and effective public relations skills and the ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with students, parents, employees and community agencies.
- Demonstrate the ability to use computers for word processing, data management, and telecommunications.
- Demonstrate excellent leadership and organizational skills and the ability to motivate people.
Specific Performance Responsibilities and Duties:
- Enforce compulsory attendance and census laws.
- Acquaint the school with the home conditions of the child and the home with the work and advantages of the school.
- Ascertain the causes of irregular attendance and truancy through documented contact with the custodian of the student and seek to eliminate the causes.
- Make a home visit or parent contact when deemed necessary to understand causes of absenteeism or to enforce the compulsory attendance laws.
- Coordinate the initiation of petitions to be submitted to the Court Designated Worker or Family Court for truancy or dependency of students.
- Keep accurate records and make reports that are required by law and in accordance with the Kentucky Department of Education, Trimble County Board of Education and the Superintendent and meet deadlines for filing district reports.
- Implement a process consistent with Board Policy to regularly review and revise the Student Code of Conduct.
- Serve as District Safe Schools Coordinator.
- Coordinate and facilitate Home Hospital Services for students.
- Coordinate the district’s Student Information System (Infinite Campus) with the District’s Technology Department.
- Compute monthly attendance reports and compile all records and reports relating to attendance and pupil accounting.
- Serve as the Title IX compliance officer for the district.
- Evaluate and oversee the supervisors and district programs and processes as they relate to: Food Service, Transportation, FRYSC, Migrant Education, Safe Schools and School Health.
- Coordinate and facilitate the planning and implementation of the annual school calendar.
- Maintain confidentiality of students and/or staff.
- Maintain knowledge of current statutes, policies, guidelines, regulations, trends and research that affects school attendance and SEEK funding.
- Work with principals, teachers, pupils, parents, community agencies, attendance workers, and the court to improve school attendance (including truancy diversion programs).
- Collaborate with and provide training for attendance clerks.
- Maintain records on all non-resident students and reciprocal agreements/contracts.
- Serve as a liaison to the Judicial System, District Judges, Circuit Judges, County Attorney and Court Designated Worker.
- Coordinate annual “rollover” of Student Information System and generate annual reports in the following areas: FRYSC, SAAR, Safe Schools, LEAD and School Health.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
