What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grants Accountant at CO 03-03-2025 position at CENTRAL OFFICE?
POSITION: Grants Accountant
Assists the Chief Financial Officer with fiscal management, accounting, and compliance with federal and state grant funds as well as other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
- Prepares grant project financial reports in accordance with federal, state, and local requirements.
- Reviews grant budget request and assists with the preparation of federal and state grant-funded budgets,
- Responsible for complying with all required monthly, annual and other grant reporting to the Maryland State Department of Education and other agencies.
- Maintains spreadsheets and reviews financial reports necessary to support grant project expenditures.
- Prepares financial statements and reports as necessary to support program audits and effective project implementations.
- Assists in maintaining the inventory control system for federal and state grants,
- Verifies that grant funds received are deposited and posted to the appropriate accounts.
- Assists grant program managers in maintaining compliance with grant requirements and restrictions.
- Serves as the accountant for our Food and Nutritional Services operations
- Provides assistance and support to other finance staff as appropriate.
- Reports to the Chief Financial Officer and performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, or a related field with experience in general ledger, grant, and governmental accounting preferred.
- Accounting experience includes account reconciliations, budgeting, and account analysis.
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and related business applications.
- Excellent written and oral communication.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule as necessary to meet job requirements.
- Bondable status.
SALARY:
This position has a start date of July 1, 2025. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. A-14 Salary Lane.
