Summary:
Under the direction of the Transportation Coordinator, oversee orders and inventory of all parts, shop, supplies, and equipment. Oversee all work orders and inventory directly, the semi-annual State bus inspections and maintain all records for each bus/vehicle. Coordinates and supervises the mechanics and service technicians and ensures the timely completion of repairs on all district vehicles, school and activity buses. Inspect work, making sure standards are met.. Comply with OSHA Standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Order parts, shop supplies, and equipment.
Make arrangements/schedule in town repairs for buses, and district vehicles.
Maintain inventory records in Inventory Direct
Maintain proper forms on all repairs and inspections.
Make repairs and perform major tune-ups on school buses and district trucks and automobiles.
Assist other mechanics making safety inspections of all vehicles and.or school buses.
Assign work to and co-evaluate performance of shop employees.
Assist in training mechanics and service technicians.
Answer telephones and radios as needed and to know daily operation of the Transportation Department and fill in as needed.
Have a positive attitude and communicate with students, parents, teachers, co-workers and supervisors.
Other duties as assigned, reasonably related to the scope of the position
Minimum Qualifications:
1-3 years experience as Parts Manager, Ordering, Receiving, & Inventory
1-3 years experience of Supervising Shop Personnel
A minimum of 5 years experience in Automotive & Diesel repairs
Must obtain a Commercial Driver’s License, with Class B, P&S endorsement within 6 months from date of hire
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of Dine language, culture, and history preferred
Good communication skills and customer service skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, particularly Word, Excel and Access
Working knowledge of general accounting principles
Working knowledge of state budgeting policies and procedures
Working knowledge of school bussing and transportation regulations
Must have a clean driving record
Must be able to pass a Commercial Drivers License Physical Exam
Physical/Job Requirements:
Standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying up to 50 pounds, climbing, bending, reaching, kneeling, driving a vehicle, traveling long distances, writing, typing, word processing, reading, researching information, and effective communication skills.
Safety and Health:
Knowledge of universal hygiene precautions
Completed and cleared background check
Pass drug test if required for position
Knowledge and compliance with district and school Safety Plans
Equipment/Material Handled:
Multimedia equipment, including current technology
Equipment/materials relevant to the job responsibilities
Valid driver license and insurable by district if necessary
Work Environment:
Must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature and air quality

Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignment without direct supervision
