Description
The Support Supervisor I - Maintenance maintains physical school facilities and equipment in a state of operational readiness and safety for educational use at all times.
This job reports to Assistant Director, Maintenance and Custodial Services.
Qualifications
Education: Targeted job related education that meets organization’s prerequisite requirements.
Certificates & Licenses: Valid Driver’s License.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience with varied responsibility in a full-service plant or facilities maintenance organization. Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a supervisor overseeing personnel in a variety of trades including: carpentry, locksmith work, electrical , HVAC, plumbing, utilities, grounds, and general labor.
Essential Functions
- Coordinates equitable vacation schedules for maintenance personnel to ensure the shop is not depleted of critical skills at any time.
- Coordinates regularly with the Educational Facilities department supervisors (e.g. matters of mutual concern) to understand and anticipate the impact of maintenance operations on their operation and vice versa.
- Coordinates with principals, administrative staff, city staff, contractors, and vendors in scheduling and completing all maintenance and repair activities in conjunction with ongoing school programs.
- Inspects school buildings, grounds and equipment on a regular basis to ensure that a high standard of workmanship by maintenance personnel is maintained and is consistent with applicable codes and laws.
- Keeps up-to-date inventory of maintenance equipment and supplies and recommends the purchase and standardization of such equipment and supplies as required.
- Maintains knowledge and awareness of safety and environmental health regulations to ensure protection of the maintenance staff based on that knowledge.
- Maintains OSHA 100 log and all accident reports and provide notification on recordable and lost time injuries.
- Participates in the recruitment, assignment, transfer, evaluation, and disciplinary actions of maintenance shop personnel.
- Oversees the annual budget for the maintenance warehouse.
- Provides input on the annual operations and maintenance budget regarding allocated funds for the operation and maintenance of ACPS buildings.
- Provides inventory control oversight to ensure accuracy and proper accountability of equipment and supplies for scheduled projects.
- Recommends and coordinates appropriate training for maintenance shop job skills in terms or type, level and quantity needed to maintain buildings, grounds, and equipment at prescribed levels of readiness and safety.
- Responds and supervises emergency evening and weekend repair projects, as required, to ensure that a high standard of workmanship by maintenance personnel is maintained and is consistent with applicable codes and law.
- Supervises, plans, schedules and completes all building, grounds, and systems maintenance and repair activities throughout the school division and keeps a written record of work performed, materials used, and costs incurred, through the computerized work order system, on a daily basis.
- Performs other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
- This is an emergency essential position.
