QUALIFICATIONS:

A minimum of three years experience in Central Office level school nutrition administration.

Must meet Georgia Certification in the field of School Nutrition and or be eligible for a Privisional certificate.

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-
Prompt and regular attendance.
-
Coordinates and encourages student involvement in the school nutrition program in each school.
-
Informs the public of monthly menus and services offered by the school nutrition program and of the health and educational benefits gained by participation.

Assists in instructional units of classroom work pertaining to nutrition and the school nutrition program.

Visits cafeterias regularly, assuring that high standards of diet, health, safety, and cleanliness are maintained and recommends possible improvements in operation.

Coordinates menu planning and preparation and serving of school and special meals to insure nutritional adequacy.

Establishes appropriate meal price structure.

Sets specification and conditions for required bid items and reviews and evaluates bids for specification compliance.

Applies for and distributes government commodities for utilization within the school nutrition program. Ensures compliance of any other applicable grants.

Distributes all state directives and ensures proper procedures are followed.

Reviews all government reimbursements.

Maintains inventory of all supplies, equipment, and consolidated food inventories.

Makes application of federal subsidies.

Establishes school nutrition meal accounting procedures.

Reviews and evaluates requests and recommendations to purchase and/or replace equipment.

Consults with contractors, developers, school officials and architects on specifications for new and renovated cafeterias.

Prepares and administers departmental budget.

Verifies payment of all bills.
-
Reviews sick leave documentation for correctness and accountability.

Responds to parent inquiries regarding the school nutrition program.

Coordinates maintenance of school nutrition equipment and facilities.

Conducts appropriate meetings with school nutrition managers.

Coordinates all required training for school nutrition employees.

Evaluates School Nutrition Managers.

Attends appropriate staff development programs and meetings.

Audits lunch application process for compliance with federal and state directives and requirements.

Knowledgeable of Provision 2 and Breakfast in the Classroom policies and procedures.

Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities assigned by the supervisor or Superintendent of Schools.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary based on the approved Liberty County Board of Education Salary Schedule.
