TECHNOLOGY ASSISTANT
Reports to: Technology Director
Dept/Campus: Technology
Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt
Length of Contract: 240 days; 8 hours per day
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Provide support in installing, upgrading, maintaining, and troubleshooting the district-wide area network and devices.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Associates/Bachelor’s degree or certificates
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Understanding of the latest industry trends and technologies
Knowledge and skills in assessing data
Ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) with employees, colleagues,
service providers, and community members
Knowledge and skills in using technology as an instructional tool
Knowledge of hardware and software troubleshooting skills
Knowledge of network design and server management
Ability to work with confidential and time-sensitive matters
Ability to work with end-user support in a responsive, helpful, courteous, and tactful manner
Experience:
At least one (1) year in the technology field or technology internship preferred

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

- Assist with designing, configuring, upgrading, and repairing local and wide area infrastructure.
- Assist with evaluating, testing, and recommending technology for use in the educational environment.
- Assist with installing and testing approved technology upgrades in a networked environment.
- Assist with consulting the district on all technology needs to help obtain goals set forth by the district.
- Effectively implement and communicate DESE Commissioner Memos regarding technology requirements for the district and/or technology department.
- Assist with technical needs of DESE testing as needed
- Interact with administration, faculty, staff, and students to resolve technical issues
- Assist with maintaining Internet securities, including CIPA, etc., and compliance with content filtering.
- Assist with maintaining district Wi-Fi and wifi securities
- Assist with researching technology products in support of procurement and development efforts. Assist with evaluating and recommending technology for purchase.
- Assist with developing long-term strategic planning for meeting future technology needs.
- Assist with supporting the development and implementation of new district technology needs.
- Accurately document instances of hardware failure, repair, installation, removal,and student denial of access to technology.
- Assist in coordinating with applicable administrators on all matters relating to purchasing and installing computers and other classroom educational technologies.
- Assist with ongoing assistance in planning for using and integrating curriculum-based technology in the instructional program.
- Assist with coordinating workshops and training of teachers and other opportunities to implement specific programs.
- Share information and conduct training with related personnel to interpret and implement program specifications.
- Assist in the coordination of district-wide projects and events that support the integration of technology into the curriculum.
- Assist with communicating with administrators and DIS to develop a technology plan for the department and/or campus.
- Assist with communicating the status of educational technologies and recommend changes and improvements.
- Assist with maintaining a program of regular visitation to all campuses to monitor the use of instructional technology.
- Assist management of the bell system in collaboration with the administration.
- Assist in maintaining the intercom system.
- Assist in maintaining the security camera system.
- Assist in maintaining sthe ecurity door lock system.
- Aid in system setups as directed (sound system, audiovisual, etc.)
- Assist with obtaining, evaluating, and recommending technology price quotes/bids.
- Assist with maintaining an accurate technology inventory list and replacement plan.
- Assist with monitoring and updating the district website and marquee as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.

Computer systems and related equipment, audiovisual equipment, calculator, printer, copier, scanner, VoIP telephone system, intercom system, sound systems, NVR, switches, routers, surveillance cameras, security door controls, fiber converters, fiber, cat 5A & 6 cabling, wireless access points
