What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transportation Supervisor/Director position at Central Office?

Requirements - Certified Bus Technician
- Possess a valid Class B CDL with Passenger, Air Brake, and School Bus Endorsements.
- Demonstrate knowledge and experience in diesel and automotive mechanics, including diagnostics and troubleshooting
- Certified in air conditioning repair, recovery, and replacement
- Familiar with Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) systems and Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) systems
- Proficient in camera system operations, including programming, installation, troubleshooting, and data extraction
- Familiar with diagnostic software programs, including scheduling updates and password renewal processes
Shop Duties
- Order parts and supplies regularly, including fuel, oil, DEF fluid, antifreeze, and stock for ongoing repairs
- Coordinate with EPA-approved groups for the proper disposal of used oil and filters
- Manage tool inventory, ordering, and repairs
- Process and complete work orders daily for all bus and vehicle repairs
Administrative Duties
- Coordinate with the State of Arkansas for inspections and driver file audits (including physicals, random and pre-employment drug testing, background checks, driver's license verifications, and in-service hours)
- Work with administrative offices to assign buses and routes. Assist in bus investigations by reviewing camera footage and submitting documented reports. Manage bus discipline and ensure proper driver write-ups
- Support schools during enrollment and open house events at the beginning of the academic year
- Investigate stop-arm violations using camera footage, document findings, and follow up with local and county law enforcement
- Collaborate with route drivers to address discipline concerns, routing issues, and coverage for absences
- Schedule substitute and trip drivers for daily coverage and special trips
- Coordinate all athletic and academic trips, including departure times, seating charts, and driver assignments
- Maintain up-to-date information on Operations Hero
- Collaborate with the administrative office on billing procedures and audits
- Conduct in-house student bus safety training several times throughout the year
- Certified to train new CDL drivers using ELDT federal training and grade input
- Organize and document fire and evacuation drills twice a year
- Maintain accurate maintenance records for each bus
- Keep detailed records for all school-owned vehicles
School Vehicle Management
- Schedule vehicles for staff use
- Ensure vehicles are fueled, cleaned, and properly maintained
- Keep all staff-assigned vehicles in excellent working condition
Parent & Community Relations
- Work with parents to resolve transportation concerns, student behavior issues, special accommodations, and general complaints
